Went for a cycle trip on the levee along Vistula today. It was a bit chilly, but a nice day anyway. The last couple of weeks rain combined with snow-melting in the mountains has really made the river grow.
The results of the latest yearly bicycling measurements (Warszawski Pomiar Ruchu Rowerowego 2016) were just presented. During several days in the beginning of June the number of bicyclists passing by some 50-odd places in Warsaw were counted and catalogued. Since this is a set of measurements that have been repeated […]
Our local cemetary on All saints evening 2009. In Poland they like putting out grave lights on All saints. It makes for nice pictures. This year it was raining the whole evening, so I post this photo from a few years back instead.
A few days ago a friend asked me to take some pictures of her garden. It’s a typical, if unusually well-kept Polish działka; a small garden where families in the town and cities are supposed to relax, socialise, grow fruits and veggies. In Warsaw, large areas are cordoned off as […]
A few weeks back we visited the large miniature train exhibition at Warsaw’s National Stadium. The models are incredibly detailed, and it’s clearly so that some people have way too much free time for hobbies. Photographed from the correct angles it’s hard to see that the depicted scenes are only […]
All saints’ day in Poland means millions of people visiting the cemeteries, adorning the graves with flowers and grave lights. The picture above was taken leaving the shutter open as I was walking past the local cemetery. A picture of graves at night. Note the grave in the centre. It’s […]
Inspired by Trey Ratcliff‘s images I decided to try taking some HDR images. The picture above, from September 2009 was my very first attempt, and I think it’s not too bad. Since then I’ve gone through the phase of wanting to HDR everything to becoming allergic to the frequent overuse […]
The second metro (subway if you wish) line in Warsaw has been under construction for the last five years now. It has been delayed over and over, but finally, in the beginning of March 2015 it opened. The opening itself was a bit strange. It was done with very little fanfare […]
Sunday was cold and windy, so we decided it’s a perfect day for visiting a museum. Despite living almost 7 years in Warsaw I had never been to the Museum of technology in the Palace of Culture and Science. Well, it a museum that itself belongs in a museum. Nothing seems […]
